Highlights and Accolades
Today, Broughton is a vibrant, multi-cultural, urban, and outstanding public high school. Serving approximately 2,100 students, Broughton is a Global Studies and Language Immersion Magnet school. It is a top-tier Nationally Certified Demonstration-Level Magnet School and a Magnet Schools of America School of Distinction. In addition to our standard and honors level graduation requirement courses, Broughton offers students the opportunity to take the following courses on a yearlong schedule, attending eight classes with four classes per day on an alternating A and B Day Schedule.
Dr. Elena Ashburn was selected as the “North Carolina 2021-2022 Principal of The Year”. She is the only principal from the Wake County Public School System to have achieved this honor.
Broughton High School was recently named 2024 "Top Magnet School of Excellence". This is the highest annual award given to magnet schools.
In the last seven years, Broughton has had 6 Morehead-Cain Scholars (UNC), 1 Benjamin Duke Scholar (Duke), 4 Park Scholars (NCSU), 1 Levine Scholar (UNC-Charlotte), and 1 Ingram Scholar (Vanderbilt).
The class of 2024 was offered over $8.2 million in scholarships and the following accolades:
